Mini-Dump - What was I thinking?

Hi all,

I think I am in the midst of experiencing my first dump in my WLS adventure. Ugh! I am already feeling better, but my gosh, how awful.

My day was already strange. I was late to a breakfast for work and had to park illegally because the lot was full.  I didn't realize how loose my skirt had become so when I jumped out of the car, it fell to my ankles, thank goodness for slips! I had to literally hold it up as I was walking.  I've been iron deficient so when I sat down to breakfast, I saw the orange juice and thought "I'll improve my iron asorption by drinking some of this OJ."  I completely forgot that I was a gastric bypass patient!!

I started feeling just off. Dizzy, extremely tired and anxious.  On my way to another meeting, I started dry heaving and had to pull off the freeway.  At that point I called the office and alerted them that I was going home.  After the 40 minute ride home, I ran in and lets just say, my body emptied itself of probably every nutrient it had. I am starting to feel human again, but feel like a bu**** me.

I feel so stupid for doing that!! I guess I have to accept mistakes will occur along the WLS journey. I am going to lie down now and watch bad daytime TV.

MsBlues, no reason to feel stupid as it is a good reminder to us that we need to be careful and make smarter choices.  I hope you are feeling lots better.

It sure is good C'ING LESS OF ME!

We could learn a lot from crayons:
some are sharp, some are pretty,
some are dull, some have weird names,
& all are different colors....but they

ALL exist very nicely in the same box.

MsBlues... I'm sorry that you went through that ...  But the good news is once it happens it will most likely not happen again anytime soon!

Once was certainly enough for me!  I still can't do even unsweetened applesauce or really ripe fruit.. though its getting better.  I talk to other WLS'ers and many of them are keeping their sugar under 15 grams per serving.. OMG!!! I am keeping it under 5 g. per serving and even that sometimes causes the jittery anxious feeling that preceded my first dump.

Anyhow.... Take it easy and rest... And, I hope your day gets better - and that you have a fantastic weekend!!!  Hugs!

OK OK, someone stop me from laughing so hard.  That is extremely funny about your skirt, then forgetting OJ isn't a good choice, but getting sick. well I am sorry for that.  Please, take a copy of that and post it on your profile,,,,YOU will want to save that one forever.

I know you will survive, and I know all too well, what happens when we dump, they mean that literally.

Hope you feel better soon.

Hugs, you need one, Diane

Hi Diane,

My whole day had to be seen with humor!!! I will save this to my profile because I want to remember it a year from now. What's even funnier is I was convinced the dry cleaner screwed up the elastic on the top of the skirt which was why it fell off, not because I've lost 68 pounds!! Eventually I realized, nope, it wasn't the elastic being stretched, but was RNY and me!!

I hope today brings you lots of recovery and a turning the corner on your wound.  I know you'll be running marathons soon!!

Sorry but the shirt thing gave me a really good laugh.
I can tolerate some sugar, but I have never even thought of drinking any juice cause I was told it was a no no...And when I have dumped ...it was vomiting, shakiness, dizzy, sweating and just plain nasty feeling. I don't dump on the other end(thank heavens). And mine only last a couple hours.
Hope you are feeling better.
And by the way...Honey, it is time to go get some new clothes at least for work!!

HUGS

Hi Joy,

No apologies needed about the skirt incident. It was horrifying right when it happened, but hilarious when I thought about it. I had to leave very early that morning and was in a rush so I didn't pay attention to things when I put the skirt on. How funny!

I am putting clothes shopping on my to do list!!!
